Sironko RDC’s Office in Big Trouble Over Political Poster Scandal

The Office of the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) in Sironko has landed in big trouble after political campaign posters of Hajji Lumolo and his daughter were found displayed inside the office. This act has angered many residents and raised serious concerns about the political neutrality of the office.

The RDC, Balwaniregha Denis Ephraim, is supposed to serve as the President’s representative in the district and is expected to carry out his duties without bias. His responsibilities include overseeing the implementation of government programs, ensuring peace and security, and coordinating services across the district.

According to Article 203 of the 1995 Constitution, the RDC is required to monitor Central and Local Government activities, chair the District Security Committee, and carry out other assignments from the President or Parliament. The Local Government Act of 1997 further emphasizes that RDCs must remain impartial while representing government interests.

However, the presence of campaign materials inside the RDC’s office appears to go against these rules. Residents say the display of political posters is a clear sign of favoritism and a misuse of a public office that is meant to be neutral and non-partisan.

This has led to growing calls from the people of Sironko for the immediate transfer of RDC Balwaniregha Denis Ephraim. They believe his actions have shaken public trust and created an unfair political environment, especially as the country approaches the next round of elections.

Many residents now want the central government to step in and take action. They argue that if public offices are allowed to take sides in politics, it puts democracy at risk. The people of Sironko are demanding fairness, transparency, and accountability from all government representatives—starting with their own RDC.
