Officiation in sport is part and parcel for it necessitates the smooth progress and flow of activities at hand.

In particular, refereeing during football duels is a “must” lest basically a game cannot commence without referees.

Virtually, referees are very important personalities in equal measure as the other parties at hand as players, coaches and fans.

In Uganda, referees (center and assistants) are unified by their body, Uganda Football Referees Association (UFRA).

The different eight regions under Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) affiliate to URFA, their national body.

The Buganda Region Football Association (BRFA) launched the referees’ badges for the year, 2023.

This happened at the Entebbe Works playground during the mid-season Wakiso Referees’ fitness tests for 68 officials.

Farouk Kigongo, the chairperson FRSC Buganda Chapter urged the referees to remain focused in the jurisdiction of their work tasks at hand.

He hinted about integrity, fitness, avoiding ill mannerism as drunkardness and adhering to their leaders.

“Fitness for referees is key. Please train regularly. Avoid drinking of alcohol, remain as fair as possible. Keep your integrity and respect your leaders at all times” Kigongo noted.

Kigongo advised leaders to curiously monitor the behavior of these referees at all corners to solve the scarcity of Uganda at intentional competitions.
