Pilsner Awards: Robertinho dedicates April gong to Mulindwa

Moments after scooping his Pilsner Coach of the Month award for April, his third in the 2021/22 season, Vipers SC head coach Roberto Oliveira ‘Robertinho’ was quick to inscribe it to the club president, Lawrence Mulindwa.

Robertinho appreciated Mulindwa’s trust, patience, and devotion in appointing him, but most importantly, in building a huge project at Kitende.

“I thank the President (Mulindwa) because he was patient and trusted me. He waited for 20 days because of the Coronavirus,” the Brazilian stated to the press upon receiving the award at Kati Kati on Thursday.

“After this, he trusted me and gave me time to express my capacity, build one family and a strong winning team,” he added.

The tactician took over from Fred Kajoba and less than a year on, he has scooped the Uganda Cup and the Uganda Premier League.

He is on a course of lifting a successive Uganda Cup as his side managed a 2-1 first leg semifinal win against Mbarara City FC.

“My objective is to win three titles in less than a year and a double this season. But it will not be easy because Mbarara is a strong side,” the cautious gaffer added.

“However, I trust my team, and they will give everything to win it as well. We are taking it a game at a time.”

Before the return leg, Vipers have a league game on Saturday against Wakiso Giants FC at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, and, victory will see them reach the 70-point hoodoo.

No side has made the tally since the top flight was turned into a 16-team league.

The Brazilian is however expected to uncharacteristically rotate his team in preparation for the Tuesday semifinal at the St Mary’s Stadium Kitende.
