Phiona Nyamutoro to run for Nebbi District Woman MP under NRM

Phiona Nyamutoro, the current State Minister for Energy and Mineral Development in charge of Minerals, has officially announced her bid to contest the Nebbi District Woman Member of Parliament seat in the upcoming elections.
Nyamutoro, who also serves as the National Youth Representative in Uganda’s 11th Parliament, declared her intention to run through a heartfelt message shared on her social media platforms on Mother’s Day.
“Nebbi has mothered many great and significant citizens for our Nation and now it’s time for Her to Shine. Happy Mother’s Day,” she wrote, accompanying her message with her official campaign poster.
She added that it was “her time to shine,” signaling a confident entry into the race.
Running under the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party, Nyamutoro is set to face off against the incumbent Agnes Acibu, who is also affiliated with the NRM, making this a high-contest within the party.
Her announcement has been met with overwhelming support, particularly from figures in the entertainment industry and her fan base.
Notably, Nyamutoro is engaged to Eddy Kenzo, which has further amplified public interest in her political journey.
