NRM Delegates From West Nile Endorse Calvin Echodu For Eastern Uganda Vice Chairperson

Delegates from across the West Nile region have officially endorsed David Calvin Echodu for the position of NRM National Vice Chairperson for the Eastern Region. The endorsement was announced during a gathering that brought together party leaders and members from Terego, Arua District, Arua City, and Madi-Okollo.

Leading the endorsement was Alion Boniface, the NRM Chairperson for Arua District, who expressed his unwavering support for Echodu. He urged him to remain focused on strengthening the party’s grassroots structures and to emulate the late Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanyah, a respected leader known for promoting unity. “Stand firm with the structural members,” said Alion. “Let us remember and honor Jacob Oulanyah—may his soul rest in peace. He was a symbol of unity in our region. We hope you will follow in his footsteps.”

Several other leaders shared similar sentiments, including David Agwara (Madi-Okollo NRM Chairperson), Amanguru Joice (NRM Chairperson for Arua City), and Alfadeo James (General Secretary for Terego District). The delegates voiced concerns about the current leadership, criticizing some members of the Central Executive Committee (CEC) for turning their backs on the region. “The current CEC members have forgotten the people who elected them,” the delegates said. “We are ready to replace them with leaders who bring new energy.”

Sarah Onyeru, a former Chief Administrative Officer and parliamentary aspirant for the Terego Woman MP seat, also offered her endorsement. She described Echodu as a compassionate and community-oriented leader who has consistently supported his people in Teso. Referring to him as a “business philanthropist,” she stated, “Calvin is the kind of leader the President has been waiting for.” She encouraged the public to support leaders with a proven track record like Echodu.

Born in Soroti in 1973, Echodu is well-regarded for his dedication to community development. Addressing the delegates, he vowed to revitalize the NRM through grassroots initiatives. “I will inject new energy into the party by strengthening local structures,” he said. “We will establish Saccos to support party activities, engage closely with communities, and promote cadre training and recruitment.”

A Resident District Commissioner (RDC) who worked alongside Echodu in Soroti also gave his endorsement, describing Echodu as a visionary leader. “Calvin is like a brother to me. I’ve worked with him and I’ve seen his commitment and leadership firsthand. He’s the right person to move the party forward.”

In conclusion, Echodu’s message resonated deeply with the delegates, who unanimously endorsed him for the NRM National Vice Chairperson for the Eastern Region. Their support gives a major boost to his campaign to bring transformation, unity, and renewed strength to the party and the region.
