Museveni urges Ugandans to adopt a healthy lifestyle, avoid alcohol

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has once again emphasised the importance of living a healthy lifestyle, urging Ugandans to stop consuming alcohol if they want to live long and strong lives like himself.

In a resurfaced undated video, Museveni, who was 76 years old at the time of recording, can be seen addressing a crowd where he discouraged the drinking of alcohol, citing its deadly effects.

Alcohol kills people and therefore should be stopped. I am 76 but even if you start war now, we can take on each other.

Now aged 80, President Museveni remains visibly strong and continues to actively engage in national matters as he sets his sights on the 2026 general elections. If re-elected, Museveni will mark 40 years in power, having first assumed the presidency in 1986.

In the same address, Museveni attributed his longevity and good health to the discipline of avoiding alcohol throughout his life.

I have kept my life healthy. I have no time of getting drunk. How can someone get drunk and even have a budget and timetable for getting drunk?
