Masaza Cup 2021: Buwekula put a quinary past Busujju

Buwekula thumped Busujju 5-1 in the 2021 Masaza Cup at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru on Wednesday evening.

Ismail Tambula was in red-hot form as he popped in with a hattrick, Isaac Musiima and Abdul Nsereko scored the other two to complete Buwekula’s emphatic win while Ivan Kaweesi scored a consolation for Busujju.

Despite the scoreline, the game got off to a slow start as both sides struggled to take shape in the second game of the Muganzirwaza group of the prestigious tournament.

Tambula’s effort past Busujju’s custodian Mustafa Kalule placed Buwekula in the lead after 34 minutes played in the game.

Two minutes later, ‘slippery’ forward Musiima extended Buwekula’s lead after causing lots of trouble to Busujju’s defensive line.

Buwekula had a chance to stretch the lead earlier but they were so wasteful infront of goal as the first stanza ended 2-0.

Seven minutes into the second period, Nsereko scored the third for Buwekula to drown Busujju even deeper in sorrow and misery.

In the 62nd minute, Kaweesi found a consolation goal from the spot to regain Busujju’s slim hope in the tough game.

But with eight minutes to the end, Tambula completed a personal brace as well as the fourth for Buwekula that all but confirmed the win.

Tambula put the icing on the cake with a fifth in the 92nd minute to put his name on the wall of the tournament.

In the next fixture, Busujju will face Buddu on Saturday December 4 while Buwekula will be back at it tomorrow against Buddu in what will be a battle of who maintains an early lead at the top.
