The Rally crew of Ponsiano Lwakataka and Paul Musaazi won the January 2022 Fortebet Real Stars monthly award.

This followed the duo’s triumph in the National Rally Championship (NRC) season opener held in Mbarara after winning 5 of the 8 competitive stages with a Subaru Impereza.

Lwakataka’s award was picked on his behalf by the wife, Rose Lwakataka, co-driver Musaazi and Mafu Mafu Rally fans group leader Enock Mayanja at Route 256 Restaurant in Lugogo on Tuesday, February 1, 2022.

“We are excited for Lwakataka – Musaazi victory. This is just the beginning as the season has just started. We need more of these performances to win the national title” Rose Lwakataka revealed.

The crews of Fred Busulwa & Joseph Bongole and Aine Sodo came second and third respectively.

The next rally event will be in Jinja between March 11-13.

Other top performers:

In football, Wakiso Giants’ Moses Aliro Okabo was named as the best, coming ahead of URA’s goalkeeper Nafian Alionzi and Gaddafi midfielder Yunus Sibira.

“I am happy to win this award. This is my first time ever to take this accolade. It motivates me to work even harder” Aliro noted.

Heathens Rugby Football Club’s Innocent Gwokto took the rugby gong ahead of Ivan Magomu and Michael Wokorach.
