Less-known Shambamba vows to fight for starting berth at quality-filled Vipers

Vipers SC completed the signing of young forward, Shambamba Rodrigue from Democratic Republic of Congo side, Goal Academy for their final transfer business.

The 18-year-old joined the Kitende outfit on a four-year employment contract, that will run until at least 2026.

Even though he’s only a teenager with less exposure, Shambamba has a strong character and has vowed to fight with the existing talent at Kitende.

“I want to help the club and myself win trophies through putting in hard work and competing against all the quality players here,” the ambitious Shambamba was quoted via the club’s website.

“I’m an attacker and I will work hard to use my qualities to help the team go forward,” an optimistic Shambamba added.

He is expected to compete for a place in the starting eleven with Cromwell Rwothomio, Abubakar Lawal, Yunus Sentamu, and Ibrahim Orit among others.

He became the tenth and final Venoms’ signing in the just concluded transfer window, after Alfred Macumu Mudekereza, Olivier Osomba, Isa Mubiru, and Ashraf Mandela.

Others include Murushid Juuko, Marvin Joseph Youngman, Abdu Lumala, Lawal, and Rwothomio who got acquired from URA FC.

Vipers have already made the first round of the CAF Champions League qualifiers after eliminating Olympic Real De Bangui in the preliminary round, with a 4-0 aggregate win.

In the Uganda Premier League, they curtain-raise the 2022/23 campaign with a bout against Soltilo Bright Stars FC on September 30, at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
