Legendary goalkeeper Onyango named ambassador of Twinbrook Soccer academy

Close to a decade of existance, Twinbrook Schools have proudly produced over 9000 alumni.

Among these are sports personalities in football, table tennis, swimming, basketball and other sports disciplines.

The Twinbrook Soccer Academy is the latest asset by the schools that is nurturing future super stars in the beautiful game of football.

Multi-decorated goalkeeper Denis Masinde Onyango of Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club in South Africa has been named as the ambassador of the academy.

Onyango, the former captain of Uganda Cranes arrived at Twinbrook School in Bamba, Kiteezi in Gayaza with a benz car that had a customized number plate; “MASINDE G.P“.

He was accompanied by former Uganda Cranes right back Simeon Masaba and Mugalu, Onyango’s right hand man.

“I am happy to be the brand ambassador of Twinbrook Soccer Academy. I am here to inspire the youngsters to take football seriously because football is the richest business. You can make a living out of football” Onyango who also donated gloves to the academy remarked.

Onyango easily interacted with the pupils of the academy who freely posed and answered football related questions.

He also donated several pairs of goalkeepers’ gloves, posed for memorable photos with the young players, autographed their shirts and freely juggled the ball.

The director of Twinbrook Schools Hajji Jafari Ssenganda tags football as a multi-million trade that the children ought to take seriously.

“We are excited and glad to have such a super star as Denis Onyango as a brand ambassador. Football is a multi-million trade (market). We want to brand as a the best soccer academy in Uganda, East Africa and Africa” Hajji Ssenganda, a sports enthuisat remarked.

Twinbrook Soccer Academy has a current population of over 300 players aged between 6 and 12 years.

They also have a number of qualified coaches; Abdul Hakim Kibirango (head coach), Zaina Namukasa (coach), Abubakar Kajjubi (coach), Fahadi Ssekandi (coach), Joseph Ssettimba (coach), Hannington Fahad Nyakahuma (coach), Pius Kadapo (coach) and Joseph Kigozi (goalkeeping coach).

There are technical personnel overseeing the project as Mubarak Tenywa, Patrick Ssenfuka and Nimrod Kintu.

One of the pupils at Twinbrook Soccer Academy Betinah Nicole Ninsiima expressed gratitude upon receiving a pair of gloves from Onyango.

“This is the most memorable day of my life. Getting a pair of gloves from Mr Denis Onyango whom I have watching on Television. I will work hard to emulate him” Ninsiima stated.

Twinbrook Soccer Academy has three playgrounds and different sports amenities at Bamba – Kiteezi.

Two grounds are on artifical grass and one is natural grass.
