Leader of Opposition Joel Senyonyi, among 1524 graduates at UCU’s 26th ceremony.

On Friday, 4th July 2025, over 1524 graduates completed their studies with Degrees, diplomas and certificates in different disciplines at Uganda Christian University (UCU) in Mukono.
The colorful celebration, according to the leadership of UCU, marks the 26th Graduation ceremony since the university's inception.
The graduation ceremony was officiated by the UCU Chancellor and the Archbishop of Church of Uganda, His Grace the Most Rev. Dr Stephen Kazimba Mugalu with the President of US based Wheaton College Dr Philp Ryken as Chief Guest.
During the ceremony, at the main campus, the UCU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Aaron Mushengyezi, who was represented by Prof. John Kitayimbwa, DVC- Academic Affairs, said that among the 1,521 graduates, females represented 56% while 44% were males, with 49 students obtaining first-class degrees.
“Today, 1,524 students will receive academic degrees and diplomas in various fields of study. Of these, 860 are females (56%) and 664 are males (44%), while 49 students have obtained First Class degrees (sum cum laude) with 24 females and 25 males. I am happy to inform you that all your certificates and transcripts are signed and ready for collection,” he said.

Among the notable graduates was the Leader of Opposition, Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi, who graduated with a Master's Degree in Organisational Leadership and Management. Also the founding members of the University Chapter graduated and recognized.
Some of the graduates expressed gratitude for the milestone achievement, including Njuubi Sophia, who was the best performing Nursing Student with a CGPA of 4.76, Lilian was among the top in the Law course with an LLB award, Diana Nansubuga, was the best female graduate from the Computer Engineering department among others.
“I extend my heartfelt thanks to the Church of Epiphany, USA, and the Uganda Partners for their generous support in providing lab equipment to our students, which enables me to come up with a lifesaving solution that transformed disaster rescue operations while saving lives” Eng. Diana Nansubuga said
Prior to the graduation, UCU held a public lecture on Wednesday, 2nd July 2025, and a Commissioning service on Thursday.
