2024 UMEA Solidarity Games:

Overall winners: Kibuli Secondary School (Three gold medals)

For the umpteenth time, Kibuli Secondary School emerged as the overall winner for the UMEA Solidarity Games.

The Kampala city based sports powerhouse once again won the overall title during the 2024 edition hosted by Masaka Secondary School where Prince Kassim Nakibinge was chief guest.

Kibuli S.S won three gold medals in Table Tennis (boys and girls) as well as Badminton (boys) during the championships played over the Easter Holidays.

Kawanda S.S followed suit with two gold medals in Netball and Handball (girls).

Hosts Masaka Secondary School won the prestigious football (boys) gold after overcoming Madinah Islamic in the well contested finale.

Football girls’ gold went to perennial champions Kawempe Muslim Secondary School.

Kakungulu Memorial School triumphed in handball boys, with Mbogo Mixed taking Volleyball boys.

The Volleyball girls gold medal was clinched by Kinaawa High School Mugongo.

Mbogo High School won Badminton girls’ trophy.

At least 1200 students were engaged during this year’s championship in Table Tennis (boys and girls), football (boys and girls), Volleyball (boys and girls), Handball (boys and girls)Netball (girls only) and Badminton.

Over the years, the UMEA Solidarity Games have provided that viable platform for Islam faith founded schools to nurture talents as they also prepare for other USSSA games as ball games 1 and 2.

The UMEA Solidarity Games serve the purpose to forge unity among Uganda, the muslim community and schools.

They are intended to promote muslim secondary schools in Uganda, prepare UMEA School teams for USSSA national games as well as provide entertainment to the masses.
