Kenyan singer Bien reveals wedding ceremony cost just $3,000

Kenyan singer Bien, a member of the Sauti Sol band, has revealed that his wedding ceremony cost just $3,000 (approximately UGX 11 million).
At a time when many African weddings are marked by extravagance and excess, with some couples even going into debt to fund them, Bien and his wife, Chiki Kuruka, opted for a more intimate and meaningful celebration.
My wife and I invited our best friends. Anybody who was in our wedding had been to our house for dinner. We had like 50 people.
The wedding, held in 2020, was a simple affair that exceeded expectations typically associated with celebrity weddings.
The couple organized a quiet dinner with friends on a Wednesday, and by Friday, they were married. Invitations were made casually over the phone.
I just didn’t want any gifts from people. I didn’t want them to say, ‘Oh my God, I bought him a fridge.’ We actually had a charity that we asked people to donate to.
