KCCA exorcise Kyamate demons to reach Uganda Cup semifinals

KCCA FC became the first team to advance to the semifinals of this year’s Stanbic Uganda Cup after overcoming Kaaro Karungi on Saturday.

In the game played at the Kyamate Playground, Ntungamo, KCCA FC fought hard to claim a 2-1 win.

The venue is infamously remembered by KCCA FC fans for the 2015 Uganda Cup final against SC Villa that was marred by controversial incidents from referee Robert Donney.

The final was halted and latter replayed at Mandela National Stadium.

Therefore, the Lugogo based side were returning to this place for the first time since that debacle.

Despite having a poor run in the League, the Lugogo based side put up a spirited fight to win and progress.

An own goal by Norman Ndyamuhaki fired KCCA FC into the lead three minutes before the break.

There was a heavy downpour thereafter which delayed the start of the second half.

Three minutes upon restart, the hosts got the equalizer through striker Clinton Kamugisha.

KCCA FC was however able to regain their lead in the 59th minute with Usama Arafat Kizza finding the eventual winner.

Action will continue on Sunday with holders Kitara FC taking on BUL FC in Hoima, Vipers SC will host SC Villa on Monday while Police FC will entertain Kataka FC on Tuesday.
