JT Lady Jaguars secured a hard-fought 57-52 victory over the UCU Lady Canons in the National Basketball League clash held at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Wednesday.

The Lady Canons started strong, opening the game with a 10-0 run and building a nine-point lead by the end of the first quarter.

However, JT Lady Jaguars responded in the second quarter, with Brenda Kayaga and Maimuna Nabbosa hitting crucial three-pointers to put their side ahead 24-21 with five minutes left in the half.

Sylvia Nantongo’s layup for UCU tied the game at 30-30 as both teams headed into the locker rooms.

In the third quarter, Sheilah Lamunu knocked down two long-range shots to help the Lady Canons reclaim a narrow 47-44 lead heading into the final period.

But UCU’s offence stalled in the fourth quarter, managing just five points, while the Jaguars surged ahead to seal a five-point win.

Nabbosa led the JT Lady Jaguars with 12 points, the only player on her team to reach double digits.

On the other hand, Martina Anyango (12 points and 11 rebounds), Sheilah Lamunu (11 points and 12 rebounds), and Sylvia Nantongo (11 points) delivered strong performances, though it wasn’t enough to secure the win.
