JIPRA, St Mary’s Kitende game abandoned due to crowd trouble | 2025 USSSA Football

2025 USSSA Boys’ football (Semi-finals):

• Jinja Progressive Academy (JIPRA) 0-1 St Mary’s Kitende (Abandoned in the 39^th minute due to crowd trouble)
• Bukedea Comprehensive School 0 (4) – 0 (5) Buddo

The explosive semi-final contest between Jinja Progressive Academy (JIPRA) and St Mary’s Boarding School Kitende was abandoned in the 39^th minute with the Wakiso zone school leading 1-0.

Kitende took the lead inside the first four minutes, courtesy of a penalty.

By the time of the abandonment, JIPRA had leveled and the goal cancelled by the assistant referee for an off-side call.

Charged up fans attacked the match official who sprinted off for his dear life towards the center of the Ngora High School playground.

Police swiftly came in for his rescue and together with the other officials they were whisked off for safety.

The mammoth crowd was left guessing at the field of play pending a decision by the local organising committee.

The winner between JIPRA and St Mary’s Kitende will face Buddo Secondary School in the finale.

Buddo eliminated Teso zone’s Bukedea Comprehensive School 5-4 in post-match penalties during the first semi-final.

This was after normal time of this interesting contest had ended goal-less.

Buddo SS is coached by former Uganda Cranes international Richard Malinga.

Over 1600 players from 64 schools featured in this championship organized by the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA).

Each of the participating schools in the championship received two sets of jerseys from the organizers.
