It’s back to back defeats for Victoria Pearls at Kwibuka T20 Tournament

Tournament: Kwibuka Women’s T20i
- Uganda 119/6
- Rwanda 120/5
- Rwanda won by 5 wickets
Victoria Pearls suffered their second defeat at the Kwibuka Women’s T20i tournament, going down by five wickets to the hosts, Rwanda.
Rwanda won the toss and elected to bowl first on a very unpredictable surface.
Janet Mbabazi and Esther Iloku were dismissed cheaply. Kevin Awino (8) was sent in to plug the leak, and she stuck around with Immaculate Nakisuyi for a partnership worth 22 runs.
However, a 69-run partnership between Immaculate Nakisuyi (44) and Rita Musamali (39) repaired the early damage and helped Uganda finish strong on 119/6 in their 20 overs.
In the run chase, Rwanda came out guns blazing, blasting over 45 runs in the power play, and they kept the foot on the gas until Stephanie Nampiina (2/21) picked up some wickets to slow down the chase.
However, some sloppy fielding at the back end allowed Henriette Ishimwe (33 not out) to seize the initiative to clinch a commanding win by 5 wickets.
Uganda has been brilliant with the ball, but in a game they needed to win failed to win to ensure that they finish top of the pile, they were let down.
The loss dropped Uganda to second place, which sets up a semifinal clash with the Zimbabwe High Performance squad tomorrow morning.
The girls will need to regroup quickly and make sure they stop the recent poor run of games.
