Hon. Mbidde advises artists against selling assets to fund campaigns

Hon. Fred Mukasa Mbidde has advised artists aspiring to contest in the 2026 general elections against selling off their valuables and properties to finance their campaigns

The renowned Ugandan lawyer explained that all those aiming to take part in the elections should try to use the resources that are available in their dockets, stating that it is hard to recover the lost property and assets.

I urge artists not to use or sell their properties/assets to get funds to finance their campaigns because it will be hard to recover them when they are gone.

The deputy Democratic Party (DP) president further tipped artists to learn that joining active politics is not a job that will help them attain wealth and riches, but a service where one has to serve willingly.

He also warned that when one contests and fails to make it, it can affect their brand as critics could use that to mock them.

Hon. Mbidde further warned artists that politics is full of divisions, hinting that one might face a sudden decrease or increase on the number of his fanbase depending on the political party he chooses to side with.

What they should get to understand first is that politics is not a job of attaining wealth or riches, but a service to serve willingly.

Secondly, if you contest and don’t go through, your brand might get affected as well.

Third, politics has divisions that if you choose a political party, and you become its flag bearer, opposition members are likely to hate you.

So, that means you will experience a dip in the number of fans or an increase, depending on the side you decide to represent.
