Hoima City Chairman Eng. Jonard Asiimwe declares bid for Western CEC position.

Eng. Jonard Asiimwe, the current National Resistance Movement Chairman for Hoima City, has officially declared his bid for the position of NRM Vice Chairperson for Western Uganda on the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) joins NRM CEC race, vowing to champion mindset change and policy discipline 

The energy and certified project Manager says his candidature brings a unique fusion of ideological depth, professional competence, and grassroots mobilization to the top leadership table of the ruling National Resistance Movement.

“We need to retool the party’s top decision-making organ with technically grounded leaders who understand people, policy, and production. This race is not about position, it’s about purpose” he aid

The Engineer has over the years been instrumental in several strategic national projects, including the Tilenga Quarry in Buliisa, the Kabaale International Airport in Hoima, and multiple Environmental and Social Impact Assessments.

Engineer Asiimwe is pursuing a PhD in Oil and Gas Stakeholder Engagement and holder of an Executive Master’s in Oil and Gas Governance,

He also serves as Executive Director of Jonard Conglomerate Investments Ltd and is the founder of the Jonard Development Foundation, a platform advancing youth skilling, value addition, and ideological awareness.

In the political arena, Asiimwe has been the NRM Parliamentary Flag Bearer for Hoima East City Division (2022–2026) and chairs the Society of Mining Engineers Uganda. His stronghold in the Bunyoro sub-region is credited with deepening party structures and guiding mobilization efforts during the 2021 and 2024 electoral cycles.

“I represent the voice of continuity. A generation of intellectual patriots must now rise to protect and deepen the ideological clarity of the Movement,” he added.

Asiimwe’s CEC bid is anchored on four pillars: party discipline, scientific resource management, mindset transformation, and grassroots revitalization.

The engineer-turned-mobilizer has also gained national visibility as a regular expert analyst on NTV, UBC, NBS, and Bukedde TV, offering commentary on extractives, industrial policy, and national development.

Observers say his entry into the CEC race could reshape how the party taps technical professionals in its top leadership echelons, especially in a time when Uganda is transitioning into a petroleum economy.
