Returning Mbale Heroes picked their first win of the season with a stunning victory over champions SC Villa at Mbale Municipal stadium on Sunday.

Cosia Wasswa scored beautifully from a free kick within the last five minutes of the second half to silence the visiting side and send home fans into frenzy and wild celebrations.

The ‘Surgeons’ came into the game on the back of a painful 2-1 defeat to Express in their opener but will be happy with the response against a better side in Villa who were confident after overseeing Mbarara City 4-2 in their league opener on Monday.

Richard Malinga’s boy now jump to 8th position on the 16-team table and will hope to build on the victory when they visit Wakiso Giants on Friday September 27.
