“We can do a battle of Kawempe vs Uganda and Kawempe beats Uganda,” GNL Zamba said with a laugh.
He went on to name several artists who hail from Kawempe, including Jose Chameleone, Pallaso, Mudra D Viral, Fik Fameica, Spice Diana, Sheebah, and Weasel, artists who have made it in the industry.
We have the Republic of Kawempe. We could secede from this country if we are not treated well.
Despite being a proud son of Kawempe, the Luga Flow pioneer revealed that his rise in the music industry wasn’t rooted in the area. Instead, he credited DV8, a popular entertainment spot during his university years, as the launching pad of his career.
“I made my mark while at university. I come from an extremely strict family, so there was curfew. But when I got to university, there was a bit of freedom. Still, growing up in Kawempe was special. Whenever I need inspiration, I go back to my childhood in my mind.
