The final bend of the 2024-2025 FUFA Big League has reached boiling point.

With two games left to the climax of the season for 13 clubs, only Arua Hill and Onduparaka each has a single game to play.

At the top, it is the fierce battle to secure promotion to the top tier with all the five leading clubs having a realistic chance.

The bottom side of the table is also survival for the fittest with only Masindi based Booma already relegated.

Third placed Gaddafi (46 points) takes on fourth on the table Blacks Power (45 points) at the historical Works playground in Entebbe Municipality.

Gaddafi needs maximum points to seal the promotion slot with Blacks Power working for three points away and at least a point in the final game to attain promotion.

This is virtually the game of the season in the second tier league.

Permutations:

Should Gaddafi win this match, they will have secured qualification with a game away to Kataka to play.

Blacks Power’s victory in Entebbe means they will move to 48 points, two better than Gaddafi with a home contest against relegation threatened Busoga United on the final day of the season.

A draw will mean Gaddafi moves to 47 points and Blacks Power to 46 points with a game to play per piece in the final duel on 21st June 2025.

Key pillars:

Gaddafi announced a free entrance for all spectators in this game, wishing to optimize upon the mammoth crowd to rally their players.

Blacks Power is fresh from a 5-0 home drubbing of Ntugasaze and will hope to replicate the form in this away duel.

Skipper Tom Kakaire, goalkeeper Meddie Ssekebba, veteran defender Savio Kabugo, Simon Namwanja, Brian Enzama, Samuel Kawawa Junior, forwards Davis Kasirye, Frank Kalanda and Congolese import Jonathan Mbula are some of Gaddafi’s important players to dwell upon.

“It is in my our hands and we shall fight hard to make the best use of the home advantage by attacking and defending solidly” Kakaire, team captain of Gaddafi reveals.

After the sacking of Allan Kabonge, Gaddafi management appointed Robert “Kiyenje” Mukasa as head coach and has since handled the side bankrolled by the Uganda Printing and Publishing Corporation (UPPC).

Blacks Power will rely on the experience of Baker Buyala, Paul Onyu, Michael Siwu, Innocent Maduka, Nathan Oloro, Brian Ogwal, Ivan Okello, captain Isaac Okello, John Paul Acire and goalkeeper Michael Okiria remain crucial for Bob Obira’s side.

Other matches:

Match day 29 also has the current table leaders Buhimba United Saints (49 points) at their Kigaaya primary school fortress against relegation fighting Kigezi Home Boyz (27 points).

Buhimba United Saints needs a point to be promoted to the topflight division as Kigezi Home Boyz will fight for maximum points if they are to have realistic chances of survival.

Elsewhere, second placed Calvary visits Onduparaka in the West Nile derby at the Abebet Green Light Stadium in Arua.

Onduparaka will be playing their last game of the season and would wish to end the campaign on a high note with no sight of being promoted or getting demoted.

Fifth placed Paidha Black Angels (43 points) is at home against Kiyinda Boys at the Bar Okoro stadium, Zombo.

Meanwhile, Busoga United (27) is at home against already relegated Booma at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.

MYDA (29 points) takes on Kaaro Karungi (31 points) in another relegation battle at the Kongunga primary school in Bukedea district.

At the Ssaza grounds in Mityana, Ntugasaze will face off against Kataka.

With 36 points, Kataka is safe from the relegation talk and politics whilst Ntugasaze has 33 points and would wish to add onto at least a point.

Promotion:

Three top clubs will earn direction promotion to the Star Times Uganda Premier League.

Demotion:

Four bottom placed clubs will be relegated to the respective regional leagues.
