FIFA WCQ: Aucho urges fans to keep the faith in the Uganda Cranes

Uganda Cranes midfielder Khalid Aucho has promised positive results as he rallied fans to stand behind the team ahead of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers that get underway at the start of September.

The Cranes lost their preparation friendly game against Ethiopia on Sunday. However, Aucho is confident that the team will make amends in the Kenya game on Thursday, September 2, at the Nyayo International Stadium.

“Our fans should not forsake us now because we need them. Their support contributes a lot to our strength as we go into these important fixtures,”

“The coach has prepared us well, we are doing well in camp, and we are ready to collect maximum points from our next game against the Harambee Stars. Kenya is a good team, but we are going out for all three points.”

“We shall give our best on the pitch to win so that we make you proud,” Aucho further promised.

Head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic also recently stated the members he took to Ethiopia were fit and ready to compete, so it will only need the next game to prove how good they are.

The team has now departed Bahir Dar for Addis Ababa and will eventually leave for Nairobi for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 group E qualifier against Kenya next week.

Meanwhile, three more players will join the Uganda Cranes camp. CF Montreal defender Mustafa Kizza, Zizkov left-back Isaac Muleme and Smouha forward Derrick Nsibambi are all expected to join the rest of the pack in Kenya in the next 48 hours.

The inclusion of Kizza and Muleme on the team that already has Aziz Kayondo and Joseph Ochaya – all natural left-backs directly implies that Mucho will have up to four options from which to chose for that particular position.

Nsibambi joins other forwards in captain Emmanuel Okwi, Yunus Sentamu, Milton Karisa and Abdu Lumala as the injured Taddeo Lwanga is also still part of the team despite being ruled out of the Kenya affair.

Lwanga is likely to be fit for the game against Mali at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende, and the technical team may think otherwise about dropping him.
