FIFA confirms special transfer window ahead of Club World Cup

World football governing body, FIFA has confirmed a special transfer window for all teams that will be taking part in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in USA.

The development was confirmed on Wednesday, introducing a special transfer window for players from June 1 to 10 for all 32 teams participating in the upcoming revamped Club World Cup.

It should be noted that the Club World Cup will take place between 15th June to 13th July 2025.

“In line with the Regulations for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™ and the relevant amendments to the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players, all 20 Member Associations whose clubs will participate in FIFA’s groundbreaking competition have confirmed the opening of an exceptional registration window from 1 to 10 June for all their affiliated clubs to allow new players signed to compete in the tournament. The deadline for the final player list has been set as 10 June 2025, allowing each participating club to bring any new players signed in this special window to the United States.” Reads a statement from FIFA.

Additionally, participating clubs will also be able to replace and add players during a restricted in-competition period from 27 June to 3 July 2025 within a set limit and according to specific limitations.

To explain the in-competition transfer period better, clubs that advance past the first stage will be able to make changes to their squad list between June 27 and July 3, 2025—a period that covers from the end of the group stage to the end of the round of 16.

Manchester City is the defending champion, having won its first title in the last tournament under the old format in 2023.
