FIFA Club World Cup: PSG ease past ten-man Atlético Madrid

European Champions Paris Saint Germain (PSG) put up a dominant performance to overcome Atlético Madrid on Sunday at the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.

The game played at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, saw the Parisians secure a 4-0 win to make their intentions of winning the tournament clear.

Atlético Madrid ended the game with a player less following the dismissal of defender Clement Lenglet in the second half.

Fabian Ruiz opened the scoring in the 19th minute with a low drive before Vitinha doubled the advantage at the stroke of halftime.

Atletico were reduced to 10 men in the 78th minute when Lenglet was shown a second yellow card for dissent after referee Istvan Kovacs failed to act when goalkeeper Jan Oblak was impeded while attempting to roll the ball out.

Substitutes Senny Mayulu and Lee Kang-In wrapped the victory scoring a goal each. Mayulu got his in the 87th minute while Lee converted from the spot in stoppage time.

The two teams will return to action later this week with PSG facing Botafogo in their second Group B game in Pasadena on Friday, a few hours after Atletico take on Seattle Sounders in Seattle.
