CECAFA: Sheryl Botes names 20-player Crested Cranes squad

The head coach of the Uganda Women’s National Football Team, the Crested Cranes, Sheryl Botes, has announced a 20-player squad for the CECAFA Women’s Championship.
This regional tournament will take place in Tanzania from July 12 to July 21, 2025. The team consists of three goalkeepers, seven defenders, seven midfielders, and three forwards.
Preparations for the tournament began on Sunday and the team will depart following today’s afternoon training session held at Namboole Stadium.
Although the team has only completed two days of intensive training, the coach is confident they will perform well.
“I have seen all the players in action with the national team. While we couldn’t do much in just two days, we understand the importance of preparing for a major tournament like CECAFA,” she stated.
“I know the expectations are high, and we are determined to represent our team diligently. We will be facing some of the best teams, and we are ready to play football,” she added.
“The players are positive, and it’s my responsibility to ensure they give their best. We need to put in more than 200% on the pitch, so we must double our efforts.”
Most players accepted their call-ups but two changes have been made bringing in Zida Assimwe and Ruth Aturo for Resty Kobusobozi and Nulu Nakyaze Babirye respectively.
The squad reflects a blend of emerging and experienced talents, as the coach aims to build a strong U-20 team.
