CECAFA extends Senior Women’s Championship kickoff date

The region’s football governing body, CECAFA has announced new kick-off dates for the 2025 CECAFA Senior Women’s Championship.

Initially, the tournament was set to get underway on Thursday, June 12 but the new kickoff date is Friday, June 13.

The date changes were made to accommodate South Sudan, which arrived on Wednesday, as communicated by Yusuf Mossi, the CECAFA Competitions Director.

“We have had to push the kickoff date by a day because South Sudan arrived on Wednesday due to some challenges,” he noted.

Mossi clarified that Kenya arrived on Wednesday evening, resulting in a change to the fixture and kick-off dates..

The tournament will feature five participating countries: Tanzania (hosts), Burundi, Kenya, South Sudan, and Uganda. It is scheduled to run from July 13 to 21, utilizing a round-robin format.
