Tuesday, 24th September:
- Joint Staff Headquarters (JSHQ) Vs Maga Maga Cantonment – St Mary’s (10 AM)
- 3rd Division Vs Special Forces Command (SFC) – St Leo’s Kyegobe (10 AM)
- 2nd Division Vs Mountain Division – St Mary’s (3 PM)
- 5th Division Vs Jinja Cantonment – St Leo’s Kyegobe (3 PM)
Netball (Semifinals) – 25th September 2024:
- Joint Staff Headquarters (JSHQ) Vs Field Artillery Division – 9 AM
- Air Force Vs Military Police (MP) – 11 AM
The 2024 CDF Cup (football and netball) has reached the exciting knock stages in Fort Portal tourism city.
In football, the quarter finals will be played on Tuesday, 24th September 2024.
Two matches shall be played in the morning; Joint Staff Headquarters (JSHQ) against Maga Maga Cantonment at the St Mary’s (10 AM).
The other morning game will be between 3rd Division and Special Forces Command (SFC) at the St Leo’s playground in Kyegobe (10 AM).
In the afternoon, the hosts (Mountain Division) will battle 2nd Division at the St Mary’s (3 PM) whilst 5th Division will play Jinja Cantonment at the St Leo’s Kyegobe (3 PM).
Netball:
For netball, the semifinals come on Wednesday, 25th September 2024.
Joint Staff Headquarters (JSHQ) shall take on Field Artillery Division at 9 AM whilst Air Force will then play Military Police (MP) at 11 AM.
Meanwhile, the officers and militants from the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces Mountain Division and Joint Staff Formal Education, Sports, and Culture planted over 200 trees at the River Mpanga bridge in Fort Portal City, Kabarole district.
The tree planting was led by the Deputy Commander of Mountain Division, Colonel Paul Muwonge, and Colonel Deus Taremwa, the Director of Education, Sports and Culture – Land Force.
Col Paul Muwonge hailed the UPDF for supporting environmental and national security.
He emphasized documenting the progress for future reference, particularly at the 16th Edition of the CUP.
He thanked the Fort Portal City Mayor, Asaba Ruyonga, for the land where the trees have been planted and other stakeholders like the Catholic Church of Uganda and NGOs.
Speaking on behalf of the Joint Staff Formal Education, Sports and Culture Col Taremwa, emphasized the importance of discipline for soldiers to safely complete the competitions.
Col Taremwa cautioned the soldiers against any unfair play and reminded them that the ultimate goal of the organizing committee is to ensure fair play.
The exercise was also attended by Senior and Junior Officers, and Militants from Mountain Division and the Joint Staff Headquarters.
