Buganda prime minister distances himself from political party affiliations

The prime minister of Buganda, Owk. Charles Peter Mayiga, has distanced himself from claims that suggest he is affiliated with any political party in Uganda’s politics.
Speaking in an interview, he asserted that he doesn’t belong to or support any political party in the land, maintaining that he is a neutral person.
He mentioned that when he often links up with government officials, particularly the NRM members, they always point fingers at him, accusing him of supporting the leading opposition political party, NUP.
He boldly disclosed that when the 2021 general election climaxed, many government officials were unhappy with him.
“There are times when I meet with government officials, particularly (NRM) members, and am accused of belonging to the NUP party. When the 2021 election concluded, many government officials were bitter with me,” Owk Charles Peter Mayiga partly expressed.
He stresses that the NRM government officials got bitter with him because he made statements telling people to harvest ripe (red) coffee and not the unready (green) coffee, which some perceived as if he was rallying people to vote for NUP, which represents the red color politically.
Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga defended himself by noting that he started rallying people to harvest red coffee way back in August 2017, during the launch of a coffee campaign that he had embarked on.
