Budiope to host Bukono in explosive opener | 2025 MTN Busoga Masaza football

• Kick off fixture: Budiope Vs Bukono
• Venue: Irundu Primary school playground, Buyende district

The highly anticipated 8^th edition of the MTN Busoga Masaza Cup is set to kick off on Saturday 28^th June 2025.

The official opening match shall witness hosts Budiope take on Bukono at Irundu Primary School in Buyende District.

Minister of Sports mu bwaKyabazinga, Owek. Amin Bbosa Nkono confirmed the development on Thursday, 12^th June 2025 at the Kyabazinga headquarters in Bugembe, Jinja city.

This was during made the announcement a meeting with Masaza football chairpersons and Chief Executive Officers (CEOs).

This edition promises another exciting competition featuring 14 teams from the 11 chiefdoms.

The teams are pooled in the different groups Nendha, Mawembe,

Butembe group has Butembe, Busiki, Kigulu and Bukooli Namayingo.

In Mawembe group are teams as Bukono, Bunhole Bunanumba, Budiope and  Bugweri.

Bugabula, Luuka and Bukooli Bugiri are in Bukowe group whilst the Kagulu group has Bazaaya, Bulamogo and Bunha.

Groups:

• Nendha:  Butembe, Busiki, Kigulu, Bukooli Namayingo
• Mawembe: Bukono, Bunhole Bunanumba, Budiope, Bugweri
• Bukowe: Bugabula, Luuka, Bukooli Bugiri
• Kagulu: Bazaaya, Bulamogi, Bunha

Tournament Structure

The knockout stages of the competition will be matched as follows:

• Winner Nendha vs Runners-up Mawembe
• Winner Mawembe vs Runners-up Nendha
• Winner Bukowe vs Runners-up Kagulu
• Winner Kagulu vs Runners-up Bukowe

Semi-final:

• Winner 1 vs Winner 2
• Winner 3 vs Winner 4

Final:

• Winner 1 or Winner 2 Vs Winner 3 or Winner 4
