Black Panthers, Silverfin Academy triumphant at 2025 Dolphins Juniors Championship

Black Panthers Swim Club and Silverfin Academy were the winners at the 2025 Dolphins Juniors Championship, with the former claiming first place in the girls category and the latter in the boys category.

Hosts Dolphins Swim Club Kampala settled for second in the girls category and third in the boys category.

To win, Black Panthers Swim Club gathered 176 points, followed by Dolphins Swim Club (121), Gilders Swim Club (113), Jaguar Swim Club (92) and Otters Swim Club (85). 

Silverfin Academy, on the other hand, collected a total of 184 points, followed by Jaguar Swim Club (167), Dolphins Swim Club Kampala (164), Black Panthers Swim Club (140) and Aqua Akii Swim Club (92). 

This annual event held at Kampala Parents’ School in Naguru over the weekend attracted 23 clubs and 465 swimmers between 5 and 11 years who competed in five events: Breaststroke, Butterfly, Freestyle, Backstroke and Individual Medley.

The youngsters also had two relay events: Individual Relays (girls alone and boys alone) and Mixed Relays.

The 9 and under had all their events in 25M that is breaststroke, butterfly, freestyle, backstroke and 100m for the Individual Medley. For the 10 and above, covering 50M in breaststroke, butterfly, freestyle, backstroke and 200M in the Individual Medley.

Despite the heavy downpour on the first day, the two-day event was a success for as the swimming went on even in the rain; so no race was affected.

The Uganda Aquatics-sanctioned competition for junior swimmers had notable performances from Aya Adams from Aqua Akii Swim Club who continued her dominance in the girls 8-9 age group, Dolphins’ Jahan Nakato out classing girls in the 10-11 age group and Dolphins Malachi Ssali making a personal best time in the 10-11 boy 50m Butterfly event ahead of Silverfins Kristian Bwisho; Malachi lowered a her record to 33 seconds from 35 seconds made before.

The year’s event also had Kenyan participants from the Dolphins swim tech program, who were elated at being apart. The Dolphins Junior Championship is one of the many Uganda Aquatics-sanctioned competitions that give swimmers a platform to compete and make qualifying times for regional, continental and global events.
