Ankole region ready for Pearl rally, KCB Bank sets African round rolling


For the first time in its history, the Pearl of Africa Uganda rally will be hosted in Western Uganda.
Mbarara district will be the bevy of rally activity when the second round of the Africa rally championship rolls off from 8-11th May.
With the buzz expected in Western Uganda, KCB Bank Uganda has injected 80 million shillings to ensure the smooth running of this year rally.
KCB Bank has over the years been associated with motorsports in the region especially in Kenya and Uganda.
The financial institution has been part of Pearl rally for years since it opened its banking business in Uganda.
“It is a great pleasure for us at KCB bank to join hands with the FMU to raise the motosport spirit.
“KCB promised to join this sponsorship last year and here we are at it, and we are privileged to be among the participants and sponsors of this event.”
“This year we are once again proud to reaffirm our commitment not just for pearl rally but also KCB rally drivers who have shown determination in racing,” said Awori, the Acting Head of Marketing at KCB bank
The FMU president, Hon. Jimmy James Akena says KCB have been a commendable partner of the sport.
“I would like to appreciate KCB for standing with motorsport for over the years. This sponsorship is going to lead to an exciting and safe event in Mbarara,” he said.
The Pearl of Africa rally will run for three days starting with the qualifying stage and shakedown on 8th May.
Rally will start proper on Friday with three stages including a super special stage at the Rukaari Resort.
