2024-2025 Pepsi University Football League (UFL):

  • Busitema University 1-2 Islamic University In Uganda (IUIU)

Winning on the road has never been an easy task in association football.

It becomes even more complicated with the harsh or hostile fans, unfamiliar playing grounds and worse still, conceding first.

During a Pepsi University Football League duel in Uganda, The Islamic University In Uganda (IUIU) team found themselves in the aforementioned scenarios.

Perhaps, out of diligence and sheer belief, IUIU recovered from a goal down to win 2-1 away at Busitema University.

Derrick Waduma put the hosts ahead in the 33rd minute for the half time lead.

Waduma turned villain with a sending off that granted IUIU the numerical advantage.

In a space of three minutes towards the end of the game, IUIU scored two goals to bag maximum points.

Dennis Onongo and Ismael Tamubula scored in the 83rd and 87th minutes respectively for IUIU to win the contest and return home with three points.

Action continues on Saturday, 21st September 2024 when Kumi University hosts Ndejje University.

Reactions:

We lost the game instantly. The game loss was partially due to biased officiating and the organizers have to look into this matter.

David Sirama, assistant coach, Busitema University football team

I really feel excited coming from two goals down to win the game. We played well and were composed in the game and this is how we managed to come back. We look forward the next matches in the group.

Harunah Kebbah, head coach, IUIU football team
